An American Psycho TV series is finally in the works

Rumours have been swirling about a follow-up to the Christian Bale-starring film since 2013

After eight years of rumours, it’s been confirmed that an American Psycho TV adaptation is finally in the works.

Lionsgate chairman Kevin Beggs announced the news in an interview with Deadline, telling the publication that the show is “in development”.

Reports of a follow-up series to the renowned 2000 film first emerged in 2013, with the show set to be developed by FX and Lionsgate. At the time, writer Stefan Jaworski was said to be at the helm, though it’s currently unknown if he’s still attached to the project.

The American Psycho film is based on Bret Easton Ellis’ 1991 novel of the same name, and starred Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, an investment banker who lives a double life as a serial killer. The star-studded cast also includes Chloë Sevigny, Willem Dafoe, Jared Leto, Reese Witherspoon, Justin Theroux, Josh Lucas, and more.
