Cher has suggested that she’d be up for a guest appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race, going as far as to say that she’s “going to have to go on it at some point”.
Speaking in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, she says that she’s well aware of fans’ “amazing” hunger for her to appear in a guest slot, adding: “I would consider it! I have watched it.”
It goes without saying that there’s a pretty good chance it could come to fruition too, since she’s been friends with RuPaul since appearing on The RuPaul Show in 1997 (besides being a pop icon, obviously). “I’ve known him for a long time,” she adds. “He’s such a cool guy.”
“He’s smart and I love him. He’s the coolest guy ever. What he’s been able to do is amazing.”
Though we’re still awaiting Cher’s official Drag Race debut, she’s already earned herself multiple nods on the show, via impersonations, Snatch Game appearances, and of course season 10’s Cher: The Unauthorized Rusical.
Her son, Chaz Bono, and her mother, Georgia Holt, also took part in an interview challenge for season six.
Past celebrity judges on Drag Race include Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Ariana Grande, Lizzo, and Maisie Williams. Country music legend Dolly Parton, meanwhile, has apparently been turning down an appearance on the show for a decade, due to scheduling difficulties.
Cher’s own show, a documentary titled Cher and the Loneliest Elephant, premieres on Thursday (April 22) on Paramount+.
