The teaser for Charlie Brooker’s mockumentary, Death to 2020, is here

Created with Black Mirror producer Annabel Jones, the Netflix comedy will star Samuel L. Jackson, Hugh Grant, Lisa Kudrow, and more

Last week (December 2), Hugh Grant let slip that Charlie Brooker is working on a Netflix mockumentary about 2020. The streaming platform has now confirmed the news by dropping the first teaser for the project.

Aptly titled Death to 2020, the comedy will tell the story of a year so dystopian “even the creators of Black Mirror couldn’t make it up”. According to a press release, the documentary-style special will “weave together some of the world’s most (fictitious) renowned voices with real-life archival footage spanning the past 12 months”.

Created with Black Mirror producer Annabel Jones, the mockumentary is set to star Samuel L. Jackson, Lisa Kudrow, Kumail Nanjiani, Tracey Ullman, Samson Kayo, Leslie Jones, Diane Morgan, Cristin Milioti, and Joe Keery. Speaking last week, Grant revealed that he’s portraying a “pretty repellent... historian who’s being interviewed about the year”.

There’s no news yet on when the “cathartic comedy event” will air, but given the teaser says the creators are still making it, I wouldn’t hold your breath. Watch the trailer below.
