Timothée Chalamet has made his thoughts on the upcoming US election very clear. In a series of Instagram stories, the actor shared his thoughts on Donald Trump, encouraging his followers to “vote that fucker out”.
Chalamet also announced his role in Adam McKay’s Don’t Look Up, where he plays alongside a stellar line-up, including Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Himesh Patel, Ariana Grande, Jonah Hill, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Kid Cudi.
Chalamet’s role in Don’t Look Up was announced yesterday (October 14). The film follows two astronomers who embark on a media tour of the world to warn of an approaching asteroid that will destroy the Earth (which is apt, considering that an asteroid is due to hit Earth right before the US elections).
His next major role is in the science-fiction epic Dune, which was originally scheduled for December 18 this year, but when the first trailer dropped in September, it came without a release date. Now scheduled for October 2021, the film has been called “incredible” by Zendaya.
In a recent interview with GQ, director Denis Villeneuve spoke about casting Chalamet as the protagonist Pail Atreides in his adaptation of the 1965 Frank Herbert novel. “I felt there was one being on this planet right now that would be able to portray Paul Atreides,” he said. “Timothée has that kind of instant charisma onscreen that you can find only sometimes in the Old Hollywood stars from the 20s. Timothée is Paul Atreides for me. It was a big relief that he agreed, because I had no plan B.”
