Jared Leto confirms he’ll play Andy Warhol in an upcoming film

Leto was first attached to a biopic about the artist back in 2016

Jared Leto has taken to Instagram to confirm that he will be playing pop art icon Andy Warhol in an upcoming film. “So grateful and excited about the opportunity,” the Blade Runner 2049 actor and Met Gala fixture writes in the caption to the post, which features pictures of the artist and wishes him a happy belated birthday.

Leto was first linked to an Andy Warhol biopic, based on Victor Bockris’ 1989 book Warhol: The Biographyback in 2016. With Leto as both the lead actor and co-producer, the film also had Terence Winter – the screenwriter behind The Wolf of Wall Street and Boardwalk Empire – attached as a writer.

However, the new announcement doesn’t provide much more information, meaning it’s difficult to tell whether it relates to the same project, or whether any other production details have changed in the interim.
