Keanu Reeves has further solidified his position as everyone’s favourite human by taking his mum as his date to the Oscars.
Reeves, who lent his voice to the Best Animated Feature nominee Toy Story 4, walked the red carpet with his mum, costume designer Patricia Taylor.
As is always the case when the John Wick star performs a wholesome and gentlemanly act – like when he gave up his seat on the subway to a woman with a large bag, or when he bought an ice cream just so he could sign the receipt for an adoring fan – the internet collectively melted into a warm and fuzzy goo.
During her short time on the world's most coveted stretch of red fabric, Reeves’ mum was asked by presenter Ryan Seacrest if she knew anything about her son's work on The Matrix 4, which he's started filming: “Nothing” she replied, adding: “I only know about Matrix 1, 2, and 3”.
An hour or so later, Reeves took to the stage at the main ceremony – introduced as “the man who’s matrix we’d all like to reload” – as he paired with Diane Keaton to present the Best Original Screenplay to Parasite director Bong Joon Ho and his co-writer Han Jin Won. He did so in Typical Keanu fashion, with grace and compassion.
