Earlier this year, Heaven, the famous gay nightclub in London, was granted permission to become a wedding venue ahead of its 40th anniversary, and the first couple to tie the knot? None other than the UK’s first drag superstar, The Vivienne, and his partner David Ludford.
The event, which was attended by Drag Race alumni such as Blu Hydrangea, Cheryl Hole, and Gothy Kendoll, saw the club undergo its own drag transformation, with trees, floral arrangements, and tables replacing its usual cavernous interior.
The Vivienne, whose real name is James Lee Williams, wrote on Instagram: “This has been the most amazing day. I cannot thank (club owner) @jeremy_joseph enough. You’ve made it amazing.”
Keeping it a family affair, entertainment for the event was provided by Drag Race’s own Chad Michaels, as well as queens Beeyonce and Donna Marie, who are Beyonce and Lady Gaga impersonators, respectively.
Sharing a photo with Drag Race royalty Chad Michaels, The Viv wrote: “Just a dream come true. The happiest day of our lives made a million times better.”

The dessert was provided by The Great British Bake Off star John Whaite, who made a “whimsical” cake decorated with “modern spikes and skulls”.
Following the surreal and campy success of the first UK edition of Drag Race, which has registered over 6.5 million hits on BBC iPlayer to date, RuPaul has announced the series has been commissioned for a second season. The Vivienne and Baga Chipz have also announced they will be reprising their ultra conservative parodies from the “Snatch Game” in a new web series, coming soon.
