Watch the trailer for Kanye West’s Jesus Is King IMAX film

The film ‘brings Kanye West's Sunday Service to life’ in a volcanic crater

Kanye West has released a trailer for an IMAX film called Jesus Is King, taking the title from his highly anticipated new album which was slated for a September 27 release but has yet to materialise.

According to the official synopsis of Jesus Is King, the film “brings Kanye West’s famed Sunday Service to life in the Roden Crater, visionary artist James Turrell’s never-before-seen installation in Arizona’s Painted Desert”. It adds: “This one-of-a-kind experience features songs arranged by West in the gospel tradition along with new music from his forthcoming album Jesus Is King

The minute-long trailer for the film, directed by fashion photographer Nick Knight, slowly zooms in on the white space visible looking out from Rodens Crater – an artwork built into the cinder cone of a dormant volcano in Arizona – while haunting choric singing from his Sunday Service plays. The trailer ends with bible verse Mark 1:15: “The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel”.

Tickets are available for screenings beginning October 25. Watch the trailer in full below:
