Last month, the first trailer for the ninth series of iconic Ryan Murphy franchise American Horror Story dropped. The latest instalment is titled 1984, which – aside from channelling some serious 80s slasher movie vibes – sees series recurring actor Emma Roberts as a prudish teen on her way to summer camp with a bunch of friends, but of course, it all gets gory and twisted from there.
The full-length trailer takes us further into 1984, with the introduction of Mr Jingles, a cutthroat killer who’s escaped from a nearby asylum, as well as some of-the-era fashion moments.
With more short-shorts, backcombed hair, and pastel muscle tops than a Jane Fonda workout vid, season nine takes place on “the site of the worst summer massacre of all time”, and of course, Mr Jingles is on the loose, zoning in on camp counselors and attendees alike.
Joining Roberts, is Olympic skier newcomer Gus Kenworthy, and cast regulars Billie Lourd, John Carroll Lynch, Leslie Grossman, and Cody Fern. This season marks the first without veteran series regulars like Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters.
