Jeff Bridges teases the return of the Dude from Big Lebowski in a new video

Are we getting a sequel?

The Dude, His Dudeness, Duder, El Duderino... is back! Jeff Bridges has released a mysterious video on Twitter, which seems to be suggesting a reprisal of his iconic role in The Big Lebowski.

The video, shared with Bridge’s 264K followers, shows the Oscar–winning actor in the distinctive costume of perma-stoner “The Dude”, accompanied by the caption: “Can’t be living in the past, man. Stay tuned.”

Don’t swap your crepes for bowling shoes yet though… the video ends with a tumbleweed rolling along a red carpet, to reveal the date – 13 February 2019, which is the date of the Super Bowl. A sequel to the Coen Brothers’ cult film is probably not in the works, so we’ll have to do make do with the spinoff Going Places in the meantime. Best case scenario, a trailer for the sequel drops then. Most likely, we’ll be getting an extended Super Bowl commercial starring Bridges. It’s not the first time that Bridges has appeared in a commercial for America’s biggest sporting event. In 2015, the Tron actor starred in a commercial for the seemingly omnipresent website building service Squarespace.

In 2016, Bridges said he would be interested in revisiting his character again in some form of a sequel, saying it would be “fun playing a little cameo”.

Get praying to the gods of Dudeism.
