Elle Fanning sings Robyn in a trailer for Teen Spirit

The actress sings Dancing On My Own in the film, among a whole host of other artists’ songs

Elle Fanning performs Robyn’s “Dancing On My Own” in the new trailer for Teen Spirit – released yesterday (December 27) – a musical drama from The Handmaid’s Tale’s Max Minghella and the producers of La La Land.

The pop icon isn’t the only one to be treated to an Elle Fanning rendition, though; Ellie Goulding, Annie Lennox, Orbital, and Sigrid are among the other artists whose songs she will perform as she competes in an international singing competition. Other music will come from the likes of Ariana Grande, Grimes, and Major Lazer.

Some of the imagery in the trailer is reminiscent of Nicolas Winding Refn’s Neon Demon, which saw Fanning’s character similarly enter the fashion industry, but let’s hope (for her sake) that her foray into music is a bit less gruesome.
