Watch Chloë Grace Moretz and Sasha Lane in gay conversion camp film

The trailer for The Miseducation of Cameron Post is here

“Now you’re officially a disciple of God’s Promise – welcome!”

“Fuck.”

The first trailer for the long-anticipated Miseducation of Cameron Post is out, starring Chloë Grace Moretz, as well as Sasha Lane and Forrest Goodluck.

Set in 1993, the film sees Moretz play lead Cameron, who has been sent to the conservative Christian camp to undergo gay conversion therapy after getting caught with another girl at prom and then being outed by her aunt. It’s based on the YA novel of the same name by Emily M. Danforth, and directed by Desiree Akhavan.

Cameron, along with fellow queer campers Jane (Sasha) and Adam (Forrest), rebels against the ideals of the religious camp authorities. “Fuck this place,” Cameron says. “I am tired of feeling disgusted with myself.”

Gay conversion therapy continues to be a serious and concerning issue. The British government recently proposed a ban on the harmful practice following a national survey of the LGBTQ community. In popular culture, Dusty Ray Bottoms, a drag queen on RuPaul’s Drag Race, discussed her own experience of the ‘gay cure’, and elsewhere films from early 00s classic But I’m A Cheerleader to the upcoming adaption of Boy Erased delve into the topic.

The Miseducation of Cameron Post will hit cinemas first August 3.
