Yesterday evening, videos of Zendaya arriving at the Parisian photocall for The Odyssey went viral as soon as she poked her head out of the car: in a white tailored minidress with huge batwing cuffs, the actor also wore a pointy mask in the shape of the Eiffel Tower. She then went and stood directly in front of the famous monument, clearly cruising for Eiffel Tower trade.

With the help of longtime stylist Law Roach, Zendaya had pulled the look from the Givenchy archives – the SS97 couture collection by Alexander McQueen, to be exact. Longtime McQueen muse Debra Shaw had originally worn the outfit on the runway, when the collection – McQueen’s debut for Givenchy – was unveiled on January 19, 1997. Titled The Search for the Golden Fleece, the show was inspired by the Greek myth of Jason and the Argonauts, a story in which the prince of Ioclos Jason is sent on a deadly journey to win back his throne. Much like Roach and Zendaya’s past method dressing, the backstory of this particular look, inspired by a long odyssey, directly relates to the film they’re promoting. Their minds.

But Zendaya’s Odyssey looks don’t stop there. On Monday evening, the actress wore a sculptural Schiaparelli gown to the film’s world premiere in London, which featured a statuesque bodice, beaded fringe skirt and lit up from the inside. The dress had actually only debuted on the Schiaparelli AW26 couture runway that morning, and afterwards Roach had the piece removed directly from Ivy Stewart’s body and straight onto a private jet to arrive in time for the premiere. But not content with just one look, halfway through the premiere the actress changed into a Grecian-inspired draped gown from Alessandro Michele’s AW26 Valentino collection. And a day before that, also in London, the actress wore white custom Jacquemus, that included a silk headwrap and ancient earrings from the jeweller Barron that were apparently between 2,000 and 3,000 years old (no, really).
