That said, at Hermès, by sending out ensembles inspired by The Avengers, Gaultier also cleverly was able to showcase the house's mainstay; leather, which was present throughout the collection beginning with the aforemtioned catsuit, as modelled by Lily Cole and running through to Edwardian-inspired suits and lapels and panels on coats. Then later on, the black softened up into shades of taupe, beige and brown to give a selection of finely cut pieces of outerwear, accessorised by boxy handbags, dapper umbrellas and bowler hats. A move into Victoriana saw mohair trimmed full length skirts, accompanying knitwear and capes that were accented by croc detailing on waistcoats and long dresses. A black leather trench fit for international spies of any era got the final word.Visit our Entire Paris Fashion Week coverage » Escape the algorithm!
