They are putting on each other’s makeup, sitting at a party, killing time in a friend’s room, caught in that familiar in-between state of waiting and wanting. Brought to life by French house Bompard and photographed by Eimear Lynch, with styling by Dazed’s very own junior fashion editor Andra-Amelia Buhai, the images reflect the easy feeling of being together among friends. Lynch’s work has consistently focused on portraits of girlhood. Her images move at an easy pace, paying close attention to small changes in posture or expression without overemphasising them. That approach aligns easily with Bompard’s own story, a house founded in 1985 with the intention of making exceptional cashmere part of everyday life. From its earliest sweaters to a steadily expanding wardrobe, the brand has approached knitwear as something intimate and enduring, shaped by how it is worn, moved in, and returned to over time. At Bompard, its 40th anniversary is seen as a moment of momentum, “energy and collective pride,” sums up Laurence Lévy, its CEO. Since taking the helm in late 2023, Lévy has reinforced the brand’s modernity through an intense focus on colour. “We have worked almost obsessively on colour: making it ever more vibrant, deeper, more subtle.” That attention finds its purest expression in the red turtleneck, a piece she holds close. “It sums up the entire spirit of Bompard: the softness of the fabric, the brilliance of our iconic red, the perfect look.” To mark the anniversary, Bompard revisits the Torsade, its twisted knit motif. “It perfectly embodies the balance between tradition and modernity: a classic design revisited to enhance the material and reveal the depth of our colours.” Lévy has a particular fondness for the twisted balaclava. “It’s a bold piece that perfectly expresses Bompard's unique modernity. It revisits an everyday accessory with style and lightness.” As cashmere continues to move beyond the sweater, the intention remains clear. “We had to take cashmere beyond the sweater and make it wearable in all four seasons.” Head to the gallery above to check out the full shoot.
