Breaking: Rihanna upstaged by infant sons in custom Dior

It really be your own people

They may only be one and three years old, but Rihanna’s baby sons already have Jonathan Anderson on speed dial. Last night (July 13) in Los Angeles, Riot Rose and RZA Mayers chaperoned their mother to the premiere of her new movie Smurfs, and they both rocked up wearing custom Dior, no less. The pair wore miniature versions of outfits from Anderson’s menswear debut, with one-year-old Riot in a tweed blazer and white cargo shorts that served as the show’s opener, and three-year-old RZA in a pink shirt with forest green cargos. And, suffice to say, they had that shit on.

Getting upstaged by your own infant sons is not for the faint of heart, but Rihanna did put up a good fight. The former singer and professional Avon Lady wore full look Saint Laurent from Anthony Vaccarello’s Boom Boom-coded AW25 collection. But rather than one of the jewel-toned coatdresses that dominated the show, Rih went for one of the floor-sweeping black ballgowns, complete with bouncy hoopskirt and green bow, but edged up with a battered leather jacket. It was a valiant effort from arguably the best-dressed woman in the world, but even Rihanna couldn’t stand against the combined charm of two little babies in big people’s clothes. It really do be your own people sometimes.

Mum and dad Rihanna and A$AP Rocky are clearly both fans of the new Dior, having both attended J Dubs’ men’s debut last month in their own custom looks, and now kitting their sons out in fresh off the runway clobber. Inspired by British aristocrats, that SS26 collection ran through preppy English aesthetics from Etonian and Byronesque to modern-day Oxbridge students, but all with Anderson’s preppy twist. Even the look that Riot wore on the red carpet – a nipped-in blazer and outspread cargo shorts – was a riff on Monsieur Dior’s 1947 New Look, debuted 76 years before Riot was born. And Anderson himself even took the time to gush over the new fashion stars, writing on his personal Instagram this morning, “Riot and RZA just the cutest” alongside a pic of the pair. What a nice man.
