Ibiza might be better known for euphoric trance, hard-hitting techno, and pumping house, but that’s all changing, as the sounds of Amapiano infiltrate the island for another summer season.

Dankie Sounds was established while still in the thick of lockdown back in 2021, with founders Babatunde Adeniyi, James Anyiam, Kaz Brown, and Sama Olarewaju were united by their love of the genre, as well as a mutual appreciation of Afrobeats, Afro house, and EDM. Soon, their parties were drawing massive crowds, landing both in their hometown of London, Paris, Dubai, and Accra, Ghana, and it wasn’t long before they set their sights on Ibiza.

Last year, the collective closed out the summer with a stellar-line-up that saw them bring together names like KMAT, Kelvin Momo, Via Seri, Black Coffee, and Skyla Tylaa, taking ticketholders on a weekend-long journey that saw them land on the dancefloor at Eden, in the pool at Es Paradis, and on a bunch of boats for day-long parties at sea.

With guests encouraged by Dankie Sounds to “Pack the drip”, those heading out for the party didn’t disappoint. Tiny bikinis in metallics and neons were paired up with tie-dyed silk sarongs wrapped around waists and hair, while faded-out vintage bowling shirts were chucked over easy sports shorts from big guns like adidas and Nike. Head scarves, bucket hats, slogan caps, and statement sunnies finished off the looks for day, before night fell and the casual stuff made way for second-skin mini-dresses and bum-skimming skirts and shorts.
