While the fashion world is still reeling from the shock news that Demna will have left Balenciaga for Gucci by the summer, the Georgian designer is already busying himself back to work in his last months at the house. And, as one of his final acts as creative director, Demna has only gone and finally made longtime Balenciaga stan Rachel Sennott the new face of the brand.

In the new Summer 25 campaign dropped today, Nadia Lee Cohen shoots Sennott in a reimagining of Old Hollywood screen tests, with the actor wearing a ratty, moth-bitten jumper, plus stockings and suspenders from the label’s SS25 show. That offering saw Demna give us a collection that was part prim and proper with high-necked prairie dresses, and part bums out excess with all-in-one lingerie bodystockings, and Sennott’s fit in the campaign seems to reflect the duality of the collection.

As you’re all probably aware by now, Sennott has been a Balenciaga girl for a while, wearing Demna’s designs to practically every single red carpet event she goes to, including the 2024 Met Gala, where she donned an intricately beaded, oyster-coloured gown. Elsewhere, Sennot is also a constant fixture on the Balenciaga front row, a reliable source of internet virality when overworked social media editors harass her with their iPhones. Our personal fave Rachel Sennott-Balenciaga moment is from the label’s Fall 24 show in Los Angeles, when we asked her what she would do if there was an alien invasion. “I think I would just sort of like let it happen,” she replied breezily after a moment’s deliberation.

Elsewhere in the ‘Screen Tests’ campaign, Cohen turns her camera to other actors including Kyle MacLachlan, cult 90s face Linda Honeyman, Triangle of Sadness’s Sunnyi Melles, and ‘Russian Timothée Chalamet’ Mark Eydelshteyn.
