Margaret Howell taps Japanese brand Mizuno for thermal athleisure line

While layering in the winter is a fun way to play with silhouettes, different styles, and most importantly stay warm, it is generally quite uncomfortable once you finally reach warmth and are overcome with sensory overload as you start frantically stripping away layers of your clothing. This is why in the colder months, the rise of advanced fabric technology has been a true saving grace for winter fashion.

Courtesy of British designer Margaret Howell’s latest AW24 collection with the Japanese label Mizuno, there are new lightweight, but warm, classics to add to your wardrobe this season. Having collaborated several years ago for Margaret Howell’s AW17 show, the brands first joined forces to design trainers to accompany the collection.

Now available to shop is the AW24 technical wear capsule collection. Since Rihachi Mizuno debuted his brand over a century ago, the brand has become a staple on the streets of Japan – mainly for its footwear and sportswear. In recent years, it has tapped into the growing fascination with using technological innovation in design. How can we keep pieces practical for movement and daily life while using materials that can survive the day with us? With this collection, Margaret Howell and Mizuno tackle exactly that.

Featuring both menswear and womenswear, the collection includes everything from rain jackets and high-neck gilets to wool jerseys and trousers. All in a neutral palette, the pieces are great if you are after something simple but also provide a nice base to build outfits around your own style.
