For many A-List actors, it might be considered a stroke of bad luck if your premiere landed on the same night as The Fashion Awards. While the entire industry is engaged in a self-congratulatory round of revelry – and the world’s media is trained on their every move – you’re across town trudging a silent step-and-repeat for a couple of lacklustre flashbulbs. Despite the looming threat of that occurence, British actor Emma Corrin was on hand to make sure that wasn’t the case, harnessing the power of an entire awards ceremony on their own for the world premiere of Nosferatu.
Stepping on to the Berlin red carpet, Corin had unmistakably chosen Saint Laurent for the event, sheathed in a glittering, translucent minidress with cobalt lace sprouting from the cuffs and neck, and more magenta lace layered underneath. On paper, a fit like this might be best placed on your nan, but Anthony Vaccarello’s expertise transforms tablecloth doilies and Chrimstas tree tinsel into something sensual and – dare we say it – desirable. The look itself is lifted from Saint Laurent’s SS25 collection, first shown back in September, where Bella Hadid made a triumphant return to the runway. At the show, Vacarello filled the catwalk with a gaggle of YSL doppelgangers in slouchy suits and tortoiseshell glasses, before departing from his usually severe rendering of female sexuality with vivid lace looks and embellished bolero jackets.
Back in Berlin, you could see why Vacarello left his usually sombre colour palette behind. Next to a sea of male co-stars in boring black suits, Corrin was clearly the fashion star, even when that sea included Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult and Willem Dafoe. And at this point, Corrin is a dab hand at stealing the spotlight at premieres in Vaccarello’s designs: earlier this year, the actor officially entered the SLCU (Saint Laurent Cinematic Universe), wearing a belted satin-mini at a press junket for Wolverine & Deadpool. Fingers crossed we get a third Saint Laurent look before the year is out.
