This autumn, Dette and Nicolaj Reffstrup have once again joined forces with legendary British outerwear experts Barbour to turn out a collection intended to see their fans through the winter, which is definitely needed if you happen to live in Denmark or the UK where it feels like it rains close to constantly between the months of October and March. With Ganni known for its playful approach to dressing and Ditte’s keen eye for kaleidoscopic colour, this collaborative collection actually dials things back. Courtesy of Ganni There are a couple of standouts, in the form of a boxy little leopard print jacket with a big, exaggerated collar, and a full-length trench that cinches the waist in with a punky metal-studded belt. But for us, and considering how tightly the 2010s continue to hold fashion in their chokehold, the best bits on the line-up are two of Barbour’s signature waxed styles. The multi-pocketed classic was a fave among the indie-sleaze set circa the mid-00s – chances are you’ll have seen pictures of Alexa Chung or Kate Moss tramping through the mud at Glastonbury or hanging out in Camden wearing one if you’ve spent any time on Pinterest across the last couple of years. In Ganni’s hands, the jacket gets an upgrade through tonal patch pockets, a cute corduroy collar, and punchy green logo branding to the chest. The collab is the latest in a long line of partnerships for Ganni, with collections created alongside jewellery brand Mejuri, sportswear behemoth New Balance, and supermodel Paloma Elsesser all under its belt.
