Coperni’s designers just outed themselves as Disney adults

The French label is heading to Disneyland Paris for its upcoming SS25 show

Have you ever been at a fashion show and thought, this catwalk could do with a life-size version of Donald Duck? Well, if that’s you then you’re in luck – French label Coperni is hosting its SS25 collection at Disneyland Paris.

The label – co-founded in 2013 by designers Arnaud Vaillant and Sébastien Meyer – revealed today that it was heading to the Magic Kingdom during next season’s Paris Fashion Week in October. In the statement, Vaillant and Meyer disclosed that they chose the location to “reflect a new vision of modern femininity, inspired by the timeless allure of princesses and the empowering narrative of contemporary women.” The label’s SS25 runway is set to be the first time a fashion show has ever been held at any Disney resort.

In a separate joint Instagram post from Vaillant, Meyer and Coperni’s accounts, the design duo also revealed their personal reasons for staging the show under the watchful eye of Mickey Mouse, outing themselves as Disney adults in the process. “Growing up in the south of France, Disneyland Paris has always been a dream destination and a huge source of inspiration,” they wrote. “From the movies to the characters, the rides but also the resort hotels, Disneyland Paris is all about entertainment and emotion.”

Though there’s been no official word of what the clothes will look like, the original press statement hinted that the collection would “[blend] magic with reality, paying tribute to the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios movies of our childhood,” so we suspect that some sort of collaboration will be on the cards. As well as that, the pair’s joint Instagram post also went on to say they were “working closely” with Disney to create a “magical moment”.

In an interview with WWD, the pair also described the news as “a childhood dream come true”, revealing that the runway will take place in the Fantasyland section of the park, the backstage area will be in Cinderella’s Inn, and the after party in Discoveryland, home to the Space Mountain ride. They also echoed the press statement’s claim the show would be inspired by Disney princesses, but in a “contemporary, innovative and tech-savvy way.”

Coperni’s impending Disney link-up might come as a surprise for some fans, especially after their previous, future-facing fashion shows. For SS23, the label famously spray-painted a dress on Bella Hadid live on the runway, and also unleashed a pack of Boston Dynamics’ robo-dogs for AW23. Despite this, fashion and Disney collabs do have precedent, with the 100-year-old media company linking up with the likes of Gucci and Maison Margiela in recent years, so we’re sure Vaillant and Meyer will pull something unexpected out the bag.

Coperni SS25 takes place on October 1 at Disneyland Paris, and will be live streamed at coperniparis.com
