For a woman whose style has run the gamut from condom-filled sandwich bags to human-sized gimp totes, what could she possibly choose to wear on such a significant day? Even for Fox, incorporating on-the-nose religious iconography into her ensemble might be a little declassé, so now it’s time to load up on the symbolism. And how better to chime in the era of rebirth, new beginnings and resurrection, than dressed as a bird? And not just any bird – the biggest bird of them all: Big Bird. On this holy day, Fox emerged from her NY apartment in canary yellow faux-fur and butterscotch locks, hatched from a fashion egg and delivered unto the paparazzi below. She has risen! The actress hit the streets of her hometown in the garish ensemble, pairing the coat and new ‘do with a cracked leather bodice from Vaquera SS24 and matching white underwear. However, this time, something was afoot. Rather than her usual Erewhon smoothie in hand, Fox held a perspex clutch bag with a block of Velveeta cheese inside. On Instagram, after the pap run, the author wrote “La Dolce Velveeta is about being unapologetic about the things you love. Being bold and going gold is exactly that.” A following collab post with Velveeta revealed that the new hair colour was apparently engineered by the cheese brand. “The limited edition Velveeta Gold semi-permanent hair dye is gorgeous and available now,” it said. Though there’s been no official confirmation from team Fox, Easter falling on the same weekend as April Fool’s Day may have led to some crossed wires. It turns out the outfit wasn’t a poultry-based neo-absurdist rendering of the resurrection of Christ, but a fake sponsored ad with a processed cheese company. The thing is, Fox could’ve actually fooled us. Lately, she’s been stepping out in a bevy of ingenious if not slightly obnoxious street style fits, and this particular one seemed like her average Sunday garb (if anything it was slightly toned down). Whether she’s dressed as a “sex symbol” at the airport, or in a squeaky bondage gown, the inimitable Ms. Fox still knows how to keep our keyboards ablaze, even after all the years of slogging away in the streets.
