Taking place in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, the event featured Gang Corp, Dede Lovelace, Father Bop, Geves, Heron Preston, Beatrice Domond and The Harold Hunter Foundation
To celebrate its legacy and one of its classic and most iconic styles – the Catfish – street-style eyewear brand ARNETTE teamed up with Dazed to throw a Sunday Skate Jam in Brooklyn. After all, there’s no better time to party than NYFW.
In 1992, ARNETTE began as an idea born in a Southern California garage to a label popular among skate communities around the world. 30 years later, ARNETTE has become a stable within the street-style arena while spearheading sustainability efforts with its bio-acetate, bio-nylon, and bio-lens offerings.
Despite the relentless New York pouring rain, people flocked to Seret Studio in Greenpoint. Here’s what you need to know about what went down.
With everyone in New York for fashion week, people arrived dressed to impress. The likes of model Selah Marley, GHE20G0TH1K DJ Venus X, R&B singer Oyinda, rapper Midxwst, and filmmaker Mollie Mills all piled into the airy warehouse, where the drinks were flowing and the vibes were right. Attendees enjoyed Rosaluna cocktails, Something & Nothing spritz and soft drinks. Everyone’s favourite TikTok girlies, Devin Halbal and Clare Perlmutter (@tinyjewishgirl) turned up, as well as the women of the moment, Tabi swiper survivor Alexis Dougé.
SKATERS TOOK CENTRE STAGE

A ramp, large enough for about 12 skaters to mingle and flex their skills at once, sat in the centre of the room, with plenty of space for people to watch in awe as a slick lineup of DJs soundtracked the night. The Harold Hunter Foundation, a non-profit organisation that aims to honour the life of legendary Lower East Side skater Harold Atkins Hunter, staged a beginner’s skate clinic, bringing in skaters of all levels and ages.
FATHER BOP, GEVES, DEDE LOVELACE AND HERON PRESTON SOUNDTRACKED THE NIGHT

With the gloomy skies and Sunday’s rain holding out, a slick mix of hip-hop, R&B, and techno reverberated throughout the cavernous room. The music spilled outside, where people scattered to eat, drink, and test their skating skills away from adoring eyes, using cobbled-together ramps made out of traffic cones and plywood.
NY ICON SCARR’S PIZZA WAS SERVING ALL NIGHT

Lower East Side pizza joint Scarr’s helped fuel the night. And you can’t complain when New York’s best slice is served hot. A cheese slice slathered in Mike’s Hot Honey: perfection.
SUNGLASSES WERE ON DISPLAY TO TRY ON AND FREE MAGAZINES WERE AVAILABLE ALL NIGHT

It wouldn’t be a Dazed party without sky-high stacks of glossy magazines. Everyone took home a copy of Volume V Issue 280 Summer 2023, with cover stars Dua Lipa, Digga D and Stormzy.
In between the comfy reading couches, were display cases full of ARNETTE sunglasses and ample mirrors to help people complete their fit with the perfect shades. A special discount code on the night for attendees meant people could buy their frames on the spot. It goes without saying, that it wasn’t long til the room was filled with a colourful array of Catfish sunglasses.
