From rumours of rifts on set and Barbie Ferreira’s unexpected exit, to Hunter Schafer’s alleged gender criticism, and Sydney Sweeney’s family seemingly supporting the “blue lives matter” movement, all is not well at the Euphoria inn. Keeping her nose out of any dodgy dealings, however, is Alexa Demie. Instead, the actor is focusing on the things that really matter, like looking glamorous and gorgeous fashions. With that in mind, it doesn't get more fab than this: in news that landed in our inbox mere moments ago, Demie has taken a starring role in Demna’s latest Balenciaga campaign. Of course, this should probably come as no surprise, since she was seen dashing about Paris in a succession of the Georgian designer’s slinky, second-skin gowns and bug-eyed sunglasses during couture week back in July. She also sat front row alongside Kris Jenner and truly formidable child style icon North West at his blockbuster AW22 show, so we probably could have called this one were we truly put on the spot. Certified Balenciaga poster girl Kim Kardashian also returns for the newest campaign, after making her runway debut for the house alongside Dua Lipa, Naomi Campbell, Nicole Kidman, and Selling Sunset’s Christine Quinn. Rapper Big Matthew and Korean volleyball player Kim Yeon-koung are also on the cast – with the latter’s inclusion further demonstrating the love affair blossoming between fashion and sport. Photography Daniel Roché The whole thing is captured by Berlin-based photographer Daniel Roché, with the campaign tapping into the idea that in the not-so-distant years to come, we’ll have to move inside as the weather becomes more intense and destructive thanks to climate change. Things like thunderstorms and blizzards will then be simulated via VR technology – as seen inside the dome structure where Balenciaga’s AW22 show took place. Though it was intended as a typically unsettling glimpse into the future (tbt to the time Balenciaga flooded a Parisian venue for its apocalyptic AW20 show), the presentation took on a whole new meaning as war broke out in Ukraine across the AW22 fashion season. As one of the few designers to meaningfully acknowledge the severity of the situation within his show, Demna channelled his own experiences as a refugee into a powerful statement.
