For many, it may feel like they skipped a step, having missed out on end-of-year celebrations and graduation ceremonies. It’s against this backdrop that Daily Paper releases its new collection, ‘School of Hard Knocks’, a varsity-inspired capsule that’s rooted in learning from life’s toughest challenges. Consisting of t-shirts, hoodies, and a varsity jacket, the preppy six-piece collection draws on all-American high school iconography. In a nod to the Black Lives Matter movement – which saw graduating students attending protests in their gowns – the blue wool blend varsity jacket features a fist on its back, along with the Arabic terms for ‘wisdom’ and ‘courage’. Alongside the capsule, Daily Paper has dropped a campaign starring the label’s community from the UK, Germany, and the Netherlands. Photographed in the jacket, each member gives their valedictorian speech, sharing their stories of overcoming hardship and tackling life’s obstacles. The ‘School of Hard Knocks’ collection is available via Daily Paper from today (September 18).
