Kelis is kicking off a TikTok music festival this weekend

The singer is headlining Stella McCartney’s Stellafest, alongside Alicia Keys, Chloe x Halle, and Soko

With digital events dying down across the course of the last few weeks as lockdown begins to lift around the world, Stella McCartney is set to kick things back off again with the announcement of Stellafest – a weekend-long TikTok event bringing together an eclectic bunch of musicians from around the world.

So who’s on the line-up? Headlining is none other than Kelis, who’s joined by Chloe x Halle, Soko, and the Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson. Joining them is Alicia Keys, who will be reading an excerpt from her new book (but sadly not performing, so there goes your chance of screeching along to “Empire State of Mind” from your box bedroom to the detriment of your housemates’ eardrums).

“Artists from our community have come together to create a festival that is truly global – using technology and social media to bring the mosh pit onto your mobile,” explains McCartney of the project (cue moshing to “God Only Knows”? Fuck it: yes).

With the whole thing set to raise funds for the National Network to End Domestic Violence, whose work is now more vital than ever, rounding things off is an auction which puts a virtual cooking session with Kelis, a video call with Alicia Keys, and more up for grabs.

Tune in on TikTok and Instagram from July 9 – July 12.
