Kanye West is one step closer to becoming ‘the Steve Jobs of the Gap’

A Yeezy Gap line has been confirmed

Good news for all those looking to get their hands on Yeezy clothes but lacking the funds to actually do so: Kanye West just confirmed he is set to partner with Gap via his little used Twitter account.

First sharing an image of a model in a red coat, blue hoodie and khaki pants digging into a duffle bag emblazoned with the words ‘Developed by Yeezy and Gap’, ‘Ye quickly followed it up with a second. In this image, ‘YZY’ had been given a Gap-style makeover, with its font changed and placed inside a recognisable navy square.

With each post excitedly captioned #WESTDAYEVER (lol ok dad), the partnership marks the realisation of a dream for Kanye, who worked for Gap as a teenager and revealed in a (now-deleted) interview with style.com in 2015 that he’d like to be “the Steve Jobs of the Gap”. “I’m not talking about a capsule, I’m talking about full Hedi Slimane creative control of the Gap is what I would like to do,” he added.

While the American label seemingly isn’t quite ready to hand over its reins to Kanye fully, according to The Business of Fashion, the deal is set to span a number of years and encompasses mens, womens, and childrenswear, as well as accessories – so hold tight for those wild algae sneakers, maybe).

The Yeezy Gap collection is set to launch in 2021 – in the meantime, revisit that time North West stole the show at the label’s AW20 presentation in Paris below.
