Alyx’s Matthew Williams is heading to Givenchy

The designer takes over from Clare Waight Keller as artistic director

Following the news that Clare Waight Keller was leaving Givenchy after a three-year stint back in April, her successor has been announced.

Taking the reins across both menswear and womenswear as artistic director of the storied maison is Alyx founder Matthew Williams

Speaking to WWD of his appointment, Williams explained his vision for Givenchy was one of ‘modernity and inclusivity’.

“In these unprecedented times for the world, I want to send a message of hope, together with my community and colleagues, and intend to contribute towards positive change,” he explained. “The maison’s unique position and timeless aura make it an undeniable icon and I am looking forward to working together with its ateliers and teams.”

Set to begin work in the Givenchy atelier on June 16, his first show is currently slated for October. Watch this space.
