We have a soundtrack for thatShareLink copied ✔️May 4, 2020FashionFeatureTextEmma Elizabeth Davidson Today marks the first Monday in May, which, under normal circumstances, would see the crème de la crème of the fashion industry and a few choice celebrities descend on New York for the most glittering event of the year – the Met Ball (duh!) This year, however, circumstances are a long way from normal: thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, the gala was cancelled weeks ago. And while that means the aforementioned models, mag editors, and designers set to attend have had to hang up their couture, it has in no way dampened High Fashion Twitter’s plans for the annual extravaganza. Taking the event from IRL to URL, the HF Twitter community is set to host its own ‘Met Ball’ on the social media platform tonight, creating a host of challenges for its followers to get involved with: from recreating past red carpet looks, to putting together a moodboard depicting what you would have worn to the Orlando-inspired event. With the digital event set to kick off in the next few hours, we’ve put together a list of some of the wildest looks ever to grace the Met’s great halls to give you a little inspiration when it comes to your own ensemble, as well as a selection of songs to stick on while you get crafty with the curtains/duvet/tablecloth (delete as applicable). Taking into account this year’s exhibition title (which, FYI, is About Time: Fashion and Duration), the playlist features tracks from the likes of FKA twigs, Tyler, The Creator, Billie Eilish, and BTS, as well as Peggy Gou, Blood Orange, and Oneohtrix Point Never. Yes, we have taken the theme incredibly literally, but no, we’re not sorry. Press play below and join in the action on High Fashion Twitter here.
