With a few weeks of self-isolation under our belts it’s highly likely good intentions have gone out of the window. The 7am yoga sessions, live-streamed meditation classes, and endless reading list we promised ourselves we’d get through while in quarantine have all been sidelined and replaced with Netflix marathons and laying on the sofa staring at the wall, trying to comprehend wtf is actually going on.
One session you may want to turn off the TV and step away from the Cheetos for, however, is Dimitra Petsa’s upcoming ‘Wetness’ performance workshop, which the rising London-based Greek designer is set to host via Zoom next week.
Announced via her account last night, Petsa explained: “The most meaningful part of any performance I have created under the Dipetsa project has been the connection with the other performers, the intimacy, the collective experience. On a more personal level, Wetness has been a journey of healing both mentally and physically and I am very happy to be able to share this with you.”
Making its London Fashion Week debut during the AW20 season in February, the label explores femininity and, more specifically, female wetness through clothing that appears (and in some cases, is) dripping wet. Both the designer’s MA and LFW presentations have taken the form of intimate, inclusive performances in which the all-female models interacted with each other around the space.
“The whole concept is based on my long-term research into how society really tries to sterilise female bodies and female existence in general,” Petsa told us in 2018.
