Pitti Uomo becomes the latest fashion event to be postponed

Looks like there will be no menswear season this June

Pitti Immagine Uomo, the biannual menswear fair held in the city of Florence, has been postponed. Set to take place in June for the SS21 season, the anticipated fashion event will now run on September 2 through September 4, just before the start of the womenswear season.

The news follows the cancellation of other key menswear fashion events. Last week, the Paris and London shows were officially cancelled, while Milan’s menswear Fashion Week will now take place in September. Elsewhere, a number of Cruise shows have been called off, along with the cancellation of Paris’ Haute Couture presentations.

“In light of the national and international situation, Pitti Immagine revised the calendar of its tradeshows for the second half of 2020, including postponements, confirmations and cancellations,” the organisation stated in an Instagram post. “Pitti Immagine Uomo no. 98 is confirmed and will move to 2 to 4 September (3 days), once again at the Fortezza da Basso, Florence.”

At the beginning of the year, Telfar Clemens acted as Special Guest Designer at Pitti Uomo’s AW20 season, which saw editors, buyers, and fashion brands flown in from across the world. With Italy being one of the most affected countries to battle coronavirus, the rescheduling of the SS21 shows does not come as a surprise. How the menswear season will look after life returns to normality, however, is yet to be seen.
