Case in point: Namilia, which is set to debut new collection “Herotica” this Sunday (February 9), as modelled by a number of adult actors from Pornhub, as part of what the label calls a feminist statement. “The cosmos of sexual pleasure has been restricted to a few boring and chauvinistic narratives for the pleasure of the male gaze,” Namilia founders Nan Li and Emilia Pfohl told Page Six. “Porn isn’t something existentially male. Most women just have been excluded from determining the narrative.” With Asa Akira, Marica Hase, and Jade Kush all on the line-up, Akira took to Instagram to share her excitement over the announcement writing, “see you on the runway.” This isn’t the first time that the worlds of porn and fashion have collided. Last year French designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin cast male porn actor and Dazed 100-er Sean Ford to star in a short film for the designer, debuting a sex toy for his eponymous label. And, in 2016, Hood By Air worked with Pornhub on its SS17 show to create a collection which featured the website’s logo embossed across some of its pieces. With the upcoming show featuring creative direction by Betsy Johnson, Namilia has been posting promotional images of its collection on its Instagram, including tights emblazoned with the words ‘FEMINISM FUCKS’ and a sculptural shoulder piece which says ‘COCK WRECKERS’ on it.
