Alonsgside this, Dijon has also teamed up with Ray-Ban to create three new pairs of sunglasses, with each one embracing the aesthetics of her favourite eras throughout history. “I wanted to tell a story about the decades I love the most. The 60s which was a huge turning point for social revolution, civil rights and black empowerment, 70s disco, and the decadent excess of the 80s,” she says. A pair of gold mirrored aviators for the 80s, red glasses with a square frame and turtle shell detailing for the 60s, and white-rimmed glasses with a dark lens for the 70s, all three designs have a distinct personality, while embracing Dijon’s nostalgic flare. With this collab, the Chicago born DJ has followed in the steps of Peggy Gou, who collaborated with the iconic sunglasses band earlier this year. Wanting to create a community with her designs, Dijon said, “for me, it’s about bringing people together – people of different backgrounds, economic situations, gender expressions, races – and giving them a spiritual experience.” The collaboration will be available at London’s Dover Street Market in London from Saturday October 5 and globally on ray-ban.com and selected Ray-Ban flagships on October 14.
