Kanye West just debuted the ‘Yeezy Croc’ and Twitter can't calm down

What are thooooose?

In an image revealed by Yeezy Mafia on Twitter last night, Kanye West’s newest shoe was released — the Yeezy Foam Runner. First spotted early this summer on West’s daughter North, the shoe has been dubbed the ‘Yeezy Croc’ on account of its similarity to the divisive (see: understatement) shoe.

As seen on both a male and female model sitting on the back of a motorbike, the Foam Runners are a slightly more elevated version of the shoe which has been the subject of memes for years now. And, given they're worn with Yeezy's minimalist tracksuits, you can't help but feel the cult vibes are coming in stronger and stronger every day when it comes to Mr West.

Obviously this is not the first time the humble Croc has been adapted by designers. The shoe made its runway debut at Christopher Kane’s SS17 show, returning again a few months later as part of a limited edition, crystal-encrusted collection. And who could forget the platform version Balenciaga put on the runway a couple of years ago for their SS18 show? We laughed at the time, but the style sold out in minutes, so who’s laughing now? Spoiler: it's Demna

In fact, Crocs’ bizarre popularity shows no sign of diminishing, with Post Malone releasing his own iteration last year,  and Ariana Grande making waves for wearing the shoe with a pair of white ankle socks just the other day. And although some Ariana stans went wild for her look, the same can’t be said for Twitter's reaction to the Yeezy Croc.

One user said “These Yeezy Crocs are ugly monster looking shoes. They look like a Crocodile chewed on them then spit them out”, while another said, “Don’t even dare ask me if I'm touching those Yeezy Crocs in 2020. Those muthafuckas are UGLY"

But some have a bit more hope, “I said this a while back but at this point, Kanye is just doing things to show that he can do them. He made dad shoes cool and now he’s gonna make crocs cool”.

Take a look at some of the responses below.
