Craig Green’s new campaign is all about strength and fragility

The designer joined forces with frequent collaborator Dan Tobin Smith to create the AW19 series

For his latest campaign, Craig Green took that a simpler route than in previous seasons. Featuring a series of hanging structures, the images explore the tension between strength and fragility: two themes that have underpinned his work since day one.

“We created three suspended environments: cross-section style diagrams of a life-cycle. Built from a mix of natural and synthetic materials, these 2D temporary structures are simplistic and fragile in appearance, barely even joined together, yet strong enough to support multiple floating human bodies,” the designer explains of the series.

Shot by frequent collaborator Dan Tobin Smith, further images use polarised light to create drastically different versions of the same structure. Likewise, the campaign is also permeated by the idea of a ‘man of glass’, which was first explored as part of the AW19 collection itself.

“For the new-season campaign we wanted to do something that was about seeing the same object in two completely different ways, almost like the reality of something versus the fantasy, or of the truth versus the memory,” concludes Green.
