Viral SlutWalk icon Samirah Raheem has been signed to IMG

‘I got curbed from countless agencies, casting for my size or height... I feel so blessed to be represented by this amazing family’

Since going viral with her legendary interview at LA’s 2017 SlutWalk, Dazed 100er Samirah Raheem’s career has soared. Now, one year after her statement “We are all sluts!” went huge, she has announced that she’s been signed to modelling and talent agency IMG.

“I remember coming to NYC six years ago and always chanting ‘I’m gonna be a IMG girl, you’ll see!’ as I got curbed from countless agencies, casting for my size or height,” Raheem explains via her Instagram post announcing the news. “Fighting to be seen as editorial with curves while promoting body positivity no matter my size. I feel so blessed to be represented by this amazing family.” The accompanying video shows her discussing her womanhood and what it means to be a black American.

Prior to being signed, Raheem modelled independently and was based in LA as an actress. Within the last year, Raheem has become a voice for feminists across the globe – using her platform to raise awareness around topics like abortion rights and rape culture. Elsewhere, she has been featured in campaigns for body-positive, all-inclusive companies like lingerie brand Aerie.

Using this momentum to get herself signed to IMG, stay tuned to see what more she will do with her platform for the rest of this year.
