Report to the dancefloor in Alexander Wang’s latest adidas collection

Season five is all about club-leisure according to the NY designer

If the closest you get to a rigorous workout is flailing about wildly on a dancefloor on a Saturday night, Alexander Wang’s latest adidas Originals offering was designed with you in mind. This time around, the New York-based designer decided clubbing was the ultimate form of exercise and set about creating a collection to fit.

When it comes to inspiration, though, Wang was thinking less dingy Peckham basement and more bougie NY loft. Drawing on OTT 80s athleticism, he explains he’s created clothing he calls “Club-leisure – clothes for the gym, the club, and anywhere in-between.” Made up of oversized hoodies, retro-style track pants and joggers, and wrap-around skirts, as well as a series of new sneaker silhouettes, everything is emblazoned with a mash-up of adidas and Wang’s respective logos.

Ahead of the collection release this weekend, dropping today is the accompanying campaign – shot by Jonny Dufort and styled by Haley Wollens – in which world-renowned choreographer Tanisha Scott and a troupe of dancers are shown contorting into a series of wild positions across the barre. No promises that if you pick up some of the new Wang collection that you’ll be able to do the same, but then stranger things have happened, so who knows?

The collection is available online from May 25.
