Watch our doc about a collaboration between Nike and A-COLD-WALL*’s Samuel Ross that encouraged CSM students to immerse themselves in the infinite possibilities of Flyleather
Walking through Central Saint Martins still feels like a glimpse into how the world will look and feel in years to come. The prestigious art school still incubates and develops the best ideas in design and fashion, and the students still dress for the occasion.
It’s here that Samuel Ross, founder of avant-garde streetwear brand A-COLD-WALL*, is mentoring 44 design students (BA and MA) as they seek to create the products of the future using Nike’s revolutionary material Flyleather.
Over the period of a month, students interpreted the brief in wildly different ways – from skin protection streetwear, to portable picnics – and receiving feedback and critique from Samuel, Golnaz Armin (Senior Director Materials Design Nike Sportswear), and course tutors as they developed their vision. At the end of the project, seven students had their work selected to be exhibited at Copenhagen Fashion Summit. This mini-documentary takes a look at how Samuel integrated himself onto the course, and documents the work and worldview of the designers of the future.
