Moschino teams up with The Sims on an IRL collection

Start counting your Simoleons

Whether he’s turning the traditional runway presentation into a brilliantly trashy, Wheel of Fortune-style game show, creating an army of living, breathing paper dolls, or setting up a Moschino-branded car wash in the middle of Milan Fashion Week, it’s a widely accepted fact that Jeremy Scott is the king of kitsch – reimagining well-known brands and institutions through a high-camp, fashion-focused lens.

Now, the latest world Scott is set to lend his unique touch to is that of SimNation, as Moschino announces its latest collaboration with video game and virtual community The Sims.

Launching at Coachella as part of Scott’s legendary Palm Springs Desert Party this weekend, the capsule collection is made up of ready-to-wear pieces, swimwear, and accessories, all of which bear pixelated versions of classic Moschino motifs, and more than a few prints that fans of The Sims will likely (see: definitely) recognise. The accompanying campaign inserts models including Stella Maxwell into Sims-style homes.

Perhaps the best thing, though, is that one of the pieces – a hoodie emblazoned with the game’s ‘Freezer Bunny’ – will be rendered in a digital format and available within recent versions of The Sims. “I love the idea of being able to imagine, design, and bring to life a world of individual personas with The Sims universe,” explains Scott of the collaboration. “That concept emulates what I get to do for each collection at Moschino as I create a fantasy universe of spectacular storylines and characters.”

Dig out your Simoleons and head to Moschino to get your hands on the collection when it launches on April 13.
