What went down? Here’s everything you need to know. DONATELLA WAS FEELING KINKY THIS SEASON Donatella was seemingly in a kinky mood this season, with the collection as a whole having an overarchingly bondage-inspired aesthetic. The first boys on the runway wore loose-fitting suits over shirts and t-shirts with bondage-style detailing and leather harnesses, while others wore wipe-clean vinyl macs. One look even came with a silver bulldog clip attached to the jacket’s lapel. Makeshift nipple clamp? Quite possibly. Insert winky devil emoji here. SOME OF DONATELLA’S FAVE GIRLS WALKED This might have been her menswear show, but Donatella couldn’t resist sending a few of her favourite girls down the runway. On the line-up were Bella Hadid and Kaia Gerber (who else?), as well as Emily Ratajkowski, who made her debut as a Versace model at the Italian house’s SS19 presentation. In-keeping with the show’s theme she wore her hair in a super-high, super-severe ponytail. THERE WAS A BUNCH OF PUNK AND GRUNGE-INSPIRED LOOKS TOO ...well, as close as the House of Versace can get to grunge, anyway. The black, white, and red bondage-inspired looks that made up the start of the show eventually made way for a series of bright ‘fits that comprised oversized fluoro coats, neon knitwear, clashing Baroque prints, and Fair Isle knit cardigans. Also on the line-up were Beetlejuice-esque tailored suits, ostrich-feather trimmed blazers, Ford logo hoodies, and a stand-out leopard print faux fur coat, as worn by a model who’d had his hair shaved and coloured to match. PIN BADGES AND SEW-ON PATCHES ARE BIG FOR AW19 Looks were finished with chunky beanie hats and even chunkier sneakers (which, apparently, are going nowhere fast) and oversized knitted scarves, as well as 90s-inspired acetate sunglasses featuring the iconic Medusa head. There was also loads of punky pin badges and DIY patches attached to lapels, bags, and even hats, their slogans exclaiming ‘I’m mad about Versace!’ and ‘We <3 Versace’, which, we guess, is a fair statement – given we all pretty much do.
