The days of gender-specific fashion shows are quickly becoming a thing of the past, with more brands than ever merging their menswear and womenswear showings. Iceberg, an Italian label renowned for its playful spirit and sport-luxe aesthetic, is just one brand leading the charge.
“Confident, distinctive, unique and playful” are all words used by creative director James Long to describe the brand’s recent SS18 collection. These are also applicable to the newly-appointed faces of its accompanying campaign, model Sita Abellan and musician Vic Mensa, lensed on the streets of Chicago by 19-year-old self-taught photographer Samuel Trotter. Drenched in colour but distinctly atmospheric, they suit the mood of a collection which is both playful and sophisticated.
Together, Abellan and Mensa encapsulate the mood of the free-spirited, youth-driven collection. Although Long has adhered to the house codes by mixing luxury fabrics (think crepe, poplin and satin) with the comfort and functionality of jersey and mesh, he adds his own twist on Iceberg’s visual DNA by reworking its signature Mickey Mouse graphics.
