Gucci just unveiled a huge mural in East London

Ignasi Monreal’s artwork marks the launch of the brand’s new #GucciHallucination capsule collection

Following on from artworks in New York, Milan, and Hong Kong, Gucci and artist Ignasi Monreal have unveiled a new collaborative mural, this time situated just off East London’s Brick Lane, near Shoreditch High Street station. If you’ve not found yourself in the area to see it IRL yet, Monreal’s painting is inspired by the fairytale ‘Rapunzel’ and features a woman reclining on a sofa in – you guessed it – a full Gucci look.

The mural marks the launch of the new #GucciHallucination collection, which is made up of nine sweatshirts and nine t-shirts, all featuring the digital artworks Monreal created for the brand’s SS18 campaign.

The latest in a long line of collaborations between the Italian label and the Spanish artist. Alessandro Michele and Monreal first joined forces on the #GucciGram project back in 2015, when a series of creatives were invited to re-work iconic Gucci patterns. With references ranging from Greek mythology to anime and pop culture, Monreal has also worked with the likes of JW Anderson, Louis Vuitton, and FKA twigs, designing visuals and merch for her tour.

The collection launches tomorrow at 9am exclusively on gucci.com and if you want a piece of the action, you’d better be quick. There are just 200 t-shirts and 100 sweatshirts on offer (with each item on sale numbered), meaning numbers are v limited.
