Shot by iconic American photographer Bruce Weber, the house has attempted to distill some of that power into its SS17 campaign, which has just been unveiled. “This is a collection about the dynamic moment and the freedom of the Versace life,” says Donatella Versace of the images, which feature Campbell riding a horse in the same neon parka look she opened the show in. “There is no-one I know who can capture that spirit and energy like Bruce Weber.” “Creating the visual campaign for Donatella’s new collection has been exciting because it involves nature and horses and freedom,” adds Bruce Weber. “Freedom of choice, freedom of expression and freedom of speech. I think it’s always interesting that fashion can carry messages in a subtle way and make people think about their own lives and how they can make it better.” In addition to Campbell and several more horses, the campaign stars German beauty Anna Ewers and a slew of Adonis-like male models including Michael Slaggart (see below) and Simon Nessman. But Versace isn’t the only house to feature animals in a campaign this season. For its new ad, Gucci included several big cats: a lion, a leopard and a tiger – which according to Glen Luchford, the photographer who shot it, were real and not CGI.
