Known for her norm-defying work as photo editor at PYLOT, a publication renowned for its stance against Photoshop, Day has established herself by capturing youth culture and unconventional beauty in its rawest form. For this shoot, she teams up with flame-haired beauty Lorna Foran and male model Jon Cooper, who stormed the runway this season for houses such as Saint Laurent and Balenciaga. The images are romantic yet realist, a mood encapsulated in the styling of Replay’s AW15 collection which centers around juxtaposition: the apparent femininity of a ruffled silk dress is diminished when teamed with black denim and hammered leather; a blur of the sartorial lines that divide formal and casual. The collection itself stays predominantly within a monochrome colour palette, instead relying on textural choices to make a statement. Shaggy faux fur appears on everything from hooded weather jackets (perfect for Britons too chic for an umbrella) to slouchy fur jumpers. Leather is another key textile; a classic biker is completed with contrast pockets and asymmetric zips whereas biker trousers feature black-and-white panelling, resulting in one of the collection’s most distinctive pieces.
