Now, in the wake of his last collection for Balenciaga and his SS16 offering for his own label, the designer has revealed one way in which he’s gonna step it up: collaborating on a capsule collection The Weeknd called WangXO. The designer announced the collaboration on Instagram last night, posting a picture of the Weeknd onstage dressed some pieces from the soon-to-be-released collection. Called WANGXO (pronunciation unclear), the collection consists of t-shirts, hoodies and bandanas – all inspired by the Weeknd’s lyrics and logo (an “X” and an “O” with a heart in the middle). WANGXO will be available later this month, just in time to coincide with the singer’s “Beauty Behind The Madness” tour which kicked off in Toronto earlier this week. Throughout his career, Wang has worked closely with members of the music industry. Friends with Rihanna and A$AP Rocky, the designer enlisted Tinashe, Ludacris and Lil Wayne to perform at the after-party of his SS16 show in September and Missy Elliott at the launch of his H&M collection last year.
