All-American girls hit the runway (or the pitch) in reworked retro sportswear.
It’s a touchdown:
When you’re celebrating thirty years in the business, you can afford to have a little fun. For AW15 it was game on – the show was staged on a faux football field, stadium-style screens counting down dramatically as the show kicked off and Tommy Hilfiger’s team of models emerged from the locker room.
It was the perfect setting to play with the established codes of American sportswear. Football jerseys borrowed from boyfriends were reworked in leather and wool, while typical Americana fabrics – shearling, denim and flannel – were topped off with helmet motifs and partnered with wedge-heeled football boots. Inspired by iconic 70s actress Ali MacGraw, the collection served as a love story for the women of Hilfiger’s past, present and future, with the likes of Binx Walton, Anna Ewers, Gigi Hadid and Jourdan Dunn bringing it for today’s generation.
