That's one high-speed trajectory. Anthony Vaccarello has just been announced as the new creative director of Versus Versace, less than half a year after designing his first capsule collection for the brand.
"I’ve followed Anthony’s work from his very first collection, as soon as I met him I realized immediately he was the one, he gets it, his talent screams Versus Versace," Donatella Versace said. "I love his fresh energy and innovation and I love being surrounded by a talent which brings newness to Versace."
Versus was founded in 1989 as the punkish, rebellious sister to Versace. Past capsule collaborations have included hook-ups with Christopher Kane, M.I.A. and J.W. Anderson – but it seems like it was Vaccarello's revved-up vision of sex appeal that Donatella really took to. In September, his collection took in black micro-minis and signature thigh-skimming slits, held together with gold clasps and hooks.
"Versus is cool, young and easy with an edge,” Vaccarello told WWD. “It’s an additional opportunity to express another side of my vision. And it’s fun to work with Donatella."
We can only imagine. There's no word on when Vaccarello's first Versus collection proper will launch, but at least that gives us plenty of time to get excited for the magic VVV trio.
