A crisp maritime cruise on the Gucci yacht. All aboard: After sending a crew of striped sailors down the catwalk, Frida Giannini took on the role of Captain this season. Ticking all the nautical boxes and yet deftly managing to rise above costume party clichés, the tailoring-led collection featured boating jackets – contrast piping adorning collars and sleeves – gold anchor-stamped buttons and pristine white ankle grazers. Bags were detailed with rope, straps worn sash-like across the chest. The Gucci uniform: Referencing both the individual and ideas of a uniform, the embroidered golden insignia – appearing on breast pockets, bags and sweaters – made the collection feel like the naval version of the bespoke equestrian gear Gucci have created for jumpers like Australian champ Edwina Tops-Alexander. The soundtrack to Gucci SS15: Last season, baker boys got sexy in dusty pastel tailoring. See it below: Gucci AW14Escape the algorithm!
