Why choose between street wear or tailoring when you can have it all at once, in one garment? Kris Van Assche's cut and shut AW13 show married the hoodies the models would turn up to casting in with the slim, polished tailoring he is known for.

The collection was titled 'Choose Life', a statement from Trainspotting that took from Katherine Hamnett (as worn by Wham!) and has origins way back to the Bible, Van Assche's show notes explained.

"This is a confrontation between the person, a man when he was growing up, with all those hopes and dreams, and who he feels he has to be when he becomes an adult. I don't see what you can't retain something of both in who you are. All of menswear abides by the same rules anyway, no matter who you are and what you do, whichever social strata you are from. I like to think there is a generation who will not abide by these rules."

As Patti Smith decreed on 'Babelogue', 'I haven't fucked much with the past but I fuck plenty with the future'. To use that as an analogy, this was Kris Van Assche fucking plenty with the present.
